Brocket Hall To Host Series Of Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools

    February 15, 2024

Hertfordshire’s Brocket Hall is to host a series of shot-saving Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools between March and October this year. The one, two and three-day sessions are aimed at golfers looking to improve their short game and putting techniques under the guidance of one of the world’s leading short game coaches, Dave Pelz, and his highly-trained team.

A former physicist, Pelz has dedicated a large part of his life to scientifically analyzing the golf swing and paying particular attention to the short game. He worked out that up to 68 per cent of golf shots for golfers of all abilities occur inside 125 yards and on the putting green, the area of the game he refers to as ‘The Scoring Game’. From here, he developed his teaching methodology that first identifies mechanical issues in the swing before fixing them and from there, it starts to fine-tune, work on timing and rhythm in order to provide golfers with the tools they need to improve their short game - and ultimately lower their scores. Crucially the programme is designed for players of all handicap levels and to ultimately reduce their handicap.

Brocket Hall, just 22 miles from the centre of London and easily accessible from the Home Counties, was selected by Pelz as the ideal location to host his Schools in England thanks to its combination of top quality facilities; a short-game practice area that is one of the finest in the south east, its two championship courses, impressive clubhouse, luxury accommodation and its award-winning Auberge du Lac Restaurant.

“We’re delighted to add Brocket Hall to our roster of exclusive destinations at which to hold our Scoring Game Schools,” said Pelz. “The practice area is world class with a large bunker complex, extensive putting greens, and a dedicated area for pitching and chipping instruction. Added to this, the estate is one of England’s most complete golf destinations.”

The American has worked with the very best in the game — including Phil Mickelson — to complete beginners and every time believes he can improve a player’s short game. The Schools offer tuition on a low 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio to ensure small group tuition and covers instruction on pitching, chipping, sand and putting skills in the practice area as well as time in the classroom to help students understand the teaching methodology. Pelz’s Scoring Game is designed to produce long-term improvement and participants leave with a toolbox and methodology that allows them to continue the learning process after attending the School.

Students opting for the three-day School will experience Pelz’s ultimate and most comprehensive short game and putting programme, whilst for those with less time, one-day clinics are offered, providing a focused and fun learning experience.
